Cyber Security Engineer-6 Months-London-GBP650/Day Inside IR35

We are currently looking for a Cyber Security Engineer for our Government client based in Canary Wharf. This is an initial 6 month contract paying up to GBP650/Day Inside IR35.

This role will be remote during Covid.

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role this will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for improving the telemetry, processes and tools for the SIEM/Monitoring systems and SOC team. This role requires proven experience with security telemetry, security intelligence, anomaly hunting and incident response.

The cyber security of the digital services the Ministry of Justice operate is vital to ensuring both
trust in the justice system, as well as meeting our legal obligations to protect sensitive information.
The potential of a successful cyber attack is a departmental risk, and the allocation of effective,
skilled, effort to help reduce the risk is part of the mitigation presented to the Departmental Board and Audit and Risk Committee.
Part of achieving this requirement is through the delivery of SecOps (Security Operations). SecOps embeds cyber security expertise into teams delivering high risk / high impact digital services.
Working in partnership with the wider delivery team, SecOps work improves, and scales up
security activities, helping teams design, build and automate security into their solutions, and
finding new ways to reduce the threat.
Providing this operational security improvement is a vital part of our collective work to mitigate
existing security deficiencies in digital services, and to embed more effective security in new
services for the future
Role responsibilities:-
The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for improving the telemetry, processes and

This role requires an analytical mindset and a deep knowledge of the current and
emerging threat landscape. The ability to research a threat or vulnerability and to deliver
clear and concise 'actionable intelligence' to mitigate against risk is essential.
The Cyber Security Engineer will be expected to understand current network defense
technology and to optimize or create new high value 'use cases' and rules to defend
against the latest threats.
The ability to research threats, create reports and to clearly articulate recommendations to
senior members of the team is essential to this role.
