Las Positas College
Mission College
Or be registered at one of the mentioned schools above by time of apprenticeship hire, and completed the qualifying coursework.
Or have completed the required coursework in the previous 12 months at one of the participating colleges mentioned above.
We're looking for individuals with a passion for cybersecurity to join our apprenticeship program. Do you have an eye for identifying vulnerabilities and risks in hardware and software? Do you get excited about finding the best way to secure the IT infrastructure of an organization? If so, this opportunity might be right for you. As the IT industry continues to expand with growth of companies, so does the risk of a cyberattack. Specialists in cybersecurity are among the most sought after professions in the tech industry as businesses and governments seek to fight off an increasingly daring population of hackers. We want passionate and motivated individuals to help create the workforce of tomorrow.
The apprenticeship is competency based and is estimated to take 1 to 1 years.
Duties may vary based on the specific apprenticeship role, although in general you will learn how to:
• Install security measures and operate software
• Upgrade systems to enable security software
• Install and upgrade antivirus software
• Test and evaluate new technology
• Perform penetration testing
• Analyze IT requirements and provide objective advice on the use of IT security requirements
• Gather feedback from end users to continue to improve systems
• Design, analyze and implement efficient IT security systems
You will also learn fundamentals in Information Security.
Not only will you receive paid on the job training and free tuition for program coursework, but you will also receive professional and academic mentorship, federal and state certificates of completion as well as access to professional learning and development. The apprenticeship also leads to a clear career path.
Qualifications:
• Minimum age of 18 years old
• High school graduate or have a GED
• Complete the assessment and recommended prep courses
• Enrolled in participating community college and in good academic standing
• Passed one course in Cybersecurity
• Be capable of passing required background check and three professional/academic reference checks
