Job Title: Senior Cyber Security Consultant

Location: Manchester – Hybrid, 1 day per week onsite

Contract Details: Fixed Term Contract, 6 months, 700pwd


– Cloud Security Consulting:

  • Provide expert advice on designing and implementing cloud security strategies.
  • Conduct security assessments and audits of cloud infrastructures.
  • Advise on cloud security best practises, ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements.

– Mainframe Migration Security:

  • Consult on security measures for migrating mainframe systems to cloud platforms.
  • Ensure secure transfer and integration of data and applications.
  • Develop and recommend security policies and procedures for mainframe transitions.

– Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Effectively communicate complex technical information to senior management and non–technical stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic advice on cyber security considerations and risk mitigation.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes to enhance security awareness among project staff.

– Technical Leadership:

  • Stay updated with the latest cyber security threats and technologies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide actionable recommendations for mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to align security solutions with project goals.

– Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK financial regulations and standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for security policies, procedures, and recommendations.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing required information and documentation.

Required Skills and Experience:

– Technical Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of cloud security architectures and best practises (AWS and Azure).
  • Experience with mainframe systems and migration projects.
  • Proficiency in security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption.

– Communication Skills:

  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non–technical audiences.
  • Strong presentation and report–writing skills.
  • Experience in engaging with senior executives and board members.

– Analytical and Problem–Solving Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Proven ability to provide effective security recommendations in a project setting.

– Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or similar.
  • Cloud–specific certifications like AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate, etc., are highly desirable.

– Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in cyber security, with a focus on cloud security and mainframe environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in consulting and providing security expertise for large–scale projects.
