Company Description
The role of the Network Security Technical Authority sits within the Transport team in Three UK, which is responsible for providing subject matter expertise and guidance to business units across Three's Network and Enterprise domains, building customer trust in a reliable network which matches the best, whilst ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements, company policy and standards.
In this role you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Three UK's Firewall Infrastructure (Firewalls, Management Solutions and Assurance and Governance Solutions) to ensure the security of Three's network and systems.
Job Description
- Providing technical security engineering support to ensure Firewall Infrastructure (Firewalls, Management Solutions and Assurance and Governance Solutions) requirements and outcomes are defined and considered throughout the project lifecycle from conception to operations.
- Understand Three's network and have a strategic long–term vision for the Firewall Infrastructure.
- Provide input to budget planning and road maps for the Firewall Infrastructure including capacity planning, expansion, and service improvements, defining requirements and working with colleagues and partners to deliver then hand over to Operations; you will need to be able to successfully challenge and govern partner activities and have an awareness of partner contracts.
- Support Programme and Project Managers in project planning, risk and issue management and the budgeting process.
- Recommend Firewall Infrastructure solutions and provide design input and technical approvals, assurances, and governance of deliveries that the project carries out with our colleagues and partners.
- As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) you will improve and support the implementation of firewall security policies, standards, patterns, processes, and procedures; you will understand supporting infrastructure such as Cisco ISE, MS AD, MS PKI, Splunk ES etc.
- Working with various members of Three's Security team including the Security Assurance Manager (SAM) to implement and maintain Firewall Infrastructure to meet security policy and standards.
- Ensure effective Firewall Infrastructure lifecycle, asset, performance, fault, configuration, capacity, incident, problem, change management is in place.
- Within the Transport team, you will be expected to collaborate with the wider team and colleagues providing technical support and guidance.
- Collaborate closely with a broad range of stakeholders across the business and be able to articulate the Firewall Infrastructure product vision, principles, and standards within Three and our partners.
- Provide Firewall Infrastructure security requirements and design input across several projects or technologies across Three's Network and Enterprise business domains at any one time.
- Conduct regular Firewall Infrastructure audits and generate reports on Firewall Infrastructure status.
- Working with partners to monitor Firewall Infrastructure performance and troubleshoot issues that arise.
- Create, review, and approve requirements, architecture, design, delivery and test documentation and other artefacts used in the design and delivery lifecycle by Three and its partners, ensuring that effective governance and technical assurance can be performed.
- Provide effective governance and assurance of deliverables by our partners and internal teams within Three, where necessary supporting review and approvals.
- Maintain an in–depth knowledge of industry standards and have an evolving level of technical expertise.
Qualifications
- Must have at least 5 years of hands–on experience working in Firewall Management, with proven experience as a Firewall Engineer, Architect or similar role.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Security Engineering Cyber Security or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of firewall technologies, network principles including protocols and routing, and security fundamentals.
- Detailed knowledge of Check Point, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Nokia, Clavister firewalls and equivalent management solutions.
- Two or more of the following vendor related certifications would be desirable: Check Point CCSM/CCSE/CCSA, Cisco CCIE/CCNP Security, Fortinet Certified Associate (FCA), Palo Alto PCNSE/PCNSA, Clavister NetShield Expert.
- Detailed knowledge of Security Assurance and Governance solutions such as Skybox, Tufin, Algosec.

Salary range for this role starts at GBP59,120, and exact salary will differ by job and experience.
