Position Scope

SES is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Cybersecurity to lead and manage our IT security program. In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of our cybersecurity strategy. You will direct the SES IT teams to integrate security best practices with day–to–day operations, proactively manage threats, and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data and systems. The Director of Cybersecurity will report to the VP, IT Services.

This position will be based in Woburn, MA. Some international travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global proactive threat management, including testing and improving security controls, conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, overseeing forensic investigations, and directing incident response.
  • Implement and manage data protection and compliance measures, including encryption, data loss prevention (DLP), and staff security training programs.
  • Design and enforce network security controls to safeguard against unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyberattacks.
  • Develop and implement security strategies that optimize IT efficiency and project security while aligning with global organizational policies.
  • Manage vulnerability management programs encompassing assessments, scanning, and remediation efforts to identify and patch weaknesses.
  • Direct IT teams to integrate security best practices into day–to–day IT operations.
  • Manage IT and cybersecurity budgets and resources for effective allocation across initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving security threats to adapt strategies and leverage new technologies for defense.
  • Communicate security risks, solutions, and progress to leadership and staff to foster a security–conscious culture and facilitate informed decision–making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cybersecurity operations including 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a global security program.
  • Working knowledge in various compliance and security frameworks including ISO27001, NIST and relative security frameworks
  • Strong understanding of security best practices, frameworks, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in vulnerability management, penetration testing, and incident response.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
