At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the mission we're on. In our world, it all matters.
Protecting government assets is a big picture operation for us. That’s why our Security team is made up of all kinds of talent. From security design engineers creating solutions for global threats to technical installers guarding the UK’s most sensitive assets in real time, this team provides the full spectrum of protection for the UK around the world. Now, you’ve got the opportunity to join them.
A collaborative and supportive team worker who knows how to develop relationships that help improve information security, and ready to provide advice on procurements, projects and new initiatives, this role will give you the opportunity to use all your skills as you support our vital global mission.
Keeping people and information safe.
Solving unique problems.
Broadening your horizons.
It all matters.
Make a major contribution to the security of our global operation
The primary focus of this vital role is collating assurance from our system owners, operational cyber teams and other stakeholders to produce cyber security assurance reports. Supporting your colleagues in the management of information security and cyber risks, you’ll also offer leadership on governance, assurance and cyber security awareness by organising guest speakers, regular communications and training sessions.
Assisting our Governance and Assurance Group in its general operation, and ensuring reviews and caveats are completed, we’ll expect you to offer advice relating to security operating procedures. Your additional responsibilities will include assisting the Chief Information Security Officer team in respect of information security incidents, and providing advice on ICT system security issues.
Use all your IT and risk management skills
With well developed knowledge of IT systems and associated risk management processes, you’ll be familiar with cloud and mobile technologies, and have a good understanding of information security principles, relevant legislation, HMG IA Standards and ISO/IEC 27001. When it comes to formal education you should have an appropriate professional qualification in a relevant discipline, for example CISM, CISMP, practitioner level certificate in 27001 or information risk management. A track record of driving cyber security, information security and information assurance in the public sector would be desirable, as would experience of working with assurance frameworks in relation to cyber and information security activities. In addition, the ability to influence cyber and information security policy at a national and organisational level would be a bonus.
Grow your career with full support
But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
Closing date: 5 November 2024
It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world.

And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
