We're seeking a proactive Data Protection Coordinator for our client to partner with the Data & GDPR Officer (1LoD) in advancing and embedding a strong data privacy framework. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with cross–functional teams, providing data protection expertise across the organization and supporting Conduct and Culture Working Group initiatives.

Core Responsibilities of the Data Protection Coordinator:

  • Collaborate with the Data & GDPR Officer to investigate, document, and analyze data incidents alongside business teams and the Group Data Protection Officer (DPO).
  • Drive data protection awareness and support the organization's data protection culture.
  • Assist in implementing UK data protection regulatory requirements and managing data subject rights requests.
  • Develop and maintain data protection procedures, including data mapping to track personal data collection, management, and sharing.
  • Contribute to the annual review of the organization's data privacy performance to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Identify data protection risks and document controls to mitigate these risks during business activities.
  • Deliver data protection training and provide guidance on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
  • Assist departments with Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) and align data management with retention schedules.
  • Support ongoing projects and uphold confidentiality of customer and staff records in compliance with Data Protection Regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff to identify areas for improvement and offer solutions in line with organizational procedures and regulatory frameworks.

Experience required of the Data Protection Coordinator

  • Experience gained in a Financial Services regulated organisation
  • Experience of Data Protection within a Financial Services environment
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of current and new data protection regulations and how these are embedded into operations
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of incidents and the reporting requirements of the organisation
