Job Title: Network Security Engineer
Location: Birmingham, UK (Fully On–Site)
Salary: GBP40,000 – GBP50,000 per annum
Job Overview:
My client, an ambitious technology and software solutions organisation with a presence in Birmingham, is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of hands–on experience with ZScaler and an understanding of cloud security principles.
You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the secure network infrastructure, ensuring protection against security threats while enabling smooth connectivity across their systems.
Key Responsibilities:
– Configure, manage, and maintain ZScaler services to secure network access and data protection.
– Design, deploy, and monitor network security solutions.
– Implement cloud security best practices across multiple environments, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and compliance requirements.
– Conduct security risk assessments and network vulnerability scans; identify and mitigate potential threats to maintain a robust security posture.
– Collaborate closely with IT and cloud infrastructure teams to optimize network performance while maintaining high levels of security.
– Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, security policies, and configuration settings.
– Provide technical support and guidance to resolve network security issues in a timely manner.
– Stay current on industry security trends, emerging threats, and new security technologies to continuously enhance the security landscape.
Requirements:
– 2+ years of experience with ZScaler in a network security role.
– Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, proxies, and intrusion prevention/detection systems.
– Solid understanding of cloud security concepts and experience with cloud–based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
– Proficiency with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S) and troubleshooting tools.
– Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
