Job Overview
The Jr. Network Security Engineer is integral to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of network infrastructure, with a primary focus on Cisco technologies. Key responsibilities include assisting in the design, installation, and ongoing maintenance of complex network systems encompassing routers, switches, firewalls, servers, wireless access points, and wireless controllers. The position will adherence to organizational standards and policies while operating under the direction of senior engineers or network managers. Additionally, leveraging SolarWinds for proactive network monitoring, diagnostics, and performance management is a critical aspect of this role, contributing to the organization's seamless connectivity and operational excellence.

National Pay Range
$50,000-$70,000 USD

Responsibilities
- Configure, test, and deploy Cisco network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless controllers, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with organizational needs.
- Continuously monitor and analyze network performance using SolarWinds and other tools, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to maintain system reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues related to Cisco equipment, minimizing downtime, and ensuring seamless connectivity.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for network configurations, changes, incidents, and operational projects to support organizational objectives.
- Serve as the first point of escalation for network-related tickets, coordinating with managed service providers (MSPs) to resolve issues at remote site locations promptly and effectively.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Networking / Network Engineering or equivalent.
- CCNA, Network + certification(s) or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Cisco networking concepts and principles (e.g., OSI model, TCP/IP stack).
- Knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and related technologies.
- Understanding of common network protocols and services, including those monitored by SolarWinds.
- Understanding of network security concepts and practices. (Segmentation and Network Level Authentication)
- Practical experience with Cisco CLI/GUI and SolarWinds tools.
- Familiarity with other networking solution providers. (Fortinet, Velocloud, Cisco Umbrella, Microsoft DHCP)
