What does a Data Protection professional do?

A Data Protection professional is responsible for ensuring that an organisation and its clients are compliant with the terms of the Data Protection Act as well as any rules and regulations imposed by external regulators.  
 
A highly skilled Data Protection candidate would have excellent Data Protection knowledge and experience of analysis, strategy and implementation.  
 
Key accountabilities of a Data Protection individual would include:  

• Inform and advise the organisation and its employees about their obligations to comply with the GDPR and other data protection laws. 
• Monitor compliance with the GDPR and other data protection laws, including managing internal data protection activities, advise on data protection impact assessments; train staff and conduct internal audits. 
• Be the first point of contact for supervisory authorities and for individuals whose data is processed (employees, customers etc).
